Roberts (1961- present) T. H. Roberts
knows Mosquito Point on the Rappahannock River at the Chesapeake Bay. Many
a boyhood adventure helped to form his love of the water and kept the
residents entertained. Mosquito Point Dock is a plein
air creation capturing the early morning still before the day's fun
begins. The simplified forms modeled by a growing light capture
that early morning calm. Roberts' composition captures the age
and graceful form of the dock and the light hitting the boat expressing
Roberts' attachment to the water and his love of fishing even as it
contributes to the picture's quietude. Like many in Virginia, Roberts
often enjoys the pleasures and joy of the "Rivah." The
early morning light and sense of peace and beauty in this work offer a
respite from the hustle and bustle of life. |
